The propagation of native species and erosion mitigation efforts here will only benefit this population. As Antelope Run is seasonal, it is not fish habitat.

Our collective vision is one of aesthetic. recreational and economic benefit. The drop structures are to be built from natural materials and will be engineered to resemble natural rock formations that slow the water flow. Our habitat restoration efforts will provide shade, beauty and increased numbers of bird and animal life. The sublime sounds of nature will be abundant, especially to those living in the adjacent residential areas. We are also working toward the construction of a multi-use trail along Antelope Run as part of an area-wide system that will connect neighborhoods and residential developments with the Downtown Tehachapi commercial center. The trails will provide recreational opportunities and alternative transportation routes that over time will reduce pollution from auto emissions. Another recreational opportunity will be an annual Vision Foundation sponsored run-walk race. This fund-raising event will utilize the multi-use trail system including the trail built at Antelope Run.
Economic benefits from our plan are numerous. First and foremost is the reduction of potential damages that a 1% flood event will most certainly cause. Potential losses in dollars are astronomical. As per a year 2000 property search, through Night Owl Plus, it was found that the Tucker Road commercial corridor boasts more than $15 million in assessed real estate valuation. which does not include personal and or retail property. Residential real estate assessment came to $1.2 million. Secondly. property values. especially those of parcels immediately adjacent to the stream. will rise with each car following our successful. comprehensive Antelope Run restoration program. The beauty of a living environment, combined with sound, aesthetically pleasing flood control-erosion mitigation measures and a far-reaching multi-use trail system will not only enhance existing property values, but they will increase the potential for parcel development around Antelope Run and the Tucker Road commercial corridor. Thus, proving that restoring and enhancing the environment go hand in hand with increased economic opportunity.
